The program includes flag football, volleyball, tennis, racquetball, soccer, 3-on-3 basketball, basketball, kickball, dodgeball, bowling, beach volleyball and softball. Competition includes teams from fraternities and sororities, independent students, residence hall floors, and faculty and staff. The university offers a well-rounded program of intramural sports open to all students, faculty and staff, with activities for individuals, groups of men or women, and co-ed groups. Private lessons take place May through August and group lessons are held in the mornings and evenings in June and July. TLU offers summer swimming lessons, privately or in a group, for 9-month-olds through adults. Those wishing to stay dry, and warm, can cheer swimmers on from the gate and enjoy congratulatory hot cocoa and treats with their fellow Bulldogs after the swim. Students who participate must swim the length of the pool in order to receive their T-shirt for braving the waters. The annual event, which began in 2003, is meant to bring students back together for one more community event before the end of the semester. The pool is closed from late October until after Spring Break and is not heated, so very little activity and open air significantly cools the water from its usual comfortable temperature. Polar Bulldog SwimĮach December, students gather at Mabee Pool on “Reading Day,” the day before final exams begin, to re-energize by swimming across the frigid pool. Pool membership is open to the community from March to October. The pool is available for private party rental May through August and by special request in the spring and fall. During the summer, group and private swimming lessons are offered to the community. The Mabee Aquatic Center is heated and is open from March to October for lap swimming, water basketball, water aerobics and recreational swimming. Campus recreation often hosts fitness challenges throughout the year to help students, faculty and staff kickstart their New Year's resolutions or get into a healthy routine. Zumba, Tabata, Yoga and other fitness classes are offered throughout the week. Fitness CenterĪ 13,000-square-foot fitness center with treadmills, bikes, and elliptical machines, as well as Life Fitness weight machines and a large free weight area is available from 6:30 a.m. Jones Complex/Bulldog Gym Spring Hours: Sunday - Thursday: 7 - 10 p.m. Tennis courts, a 1 KM walking/jogging track and lighted sand volleyball courts are also available. The complex is open for student use during the evening when not reserved for collegiate sports. The BUIM Office does not notify teams individually of playoff advancement. It is the responsibility of each captain to assemble a team that can compete at their listed possible playoff game times. Please be aware that playoff games do not move by request.
